Over the last few years, the paradigm shift from extracting from nature to learning from nature has emerged as a context of academic interest and global debate. Generally regarded as biomimicry, a growing body of literature demonstrating the considerable lessons which can be drawn from nature’s approach for attaining sustainable development has emerged. However, despite the awakened interest, there remains significantly less literature on how the biomimicry approach can be useful in the context of policy ideating by policy entrepreneurs to yield policy ideas presented to decision-makers. Thus, this paper is driven on the assumption that the biomimicry approach holds a huge potential for guiding the development of policy in developing countries, which are struggling with a catalog of environmental sustainability challenges due to oil exploration related degradations.
