for Editors.

Our Editors are responsible for handling the peer-review process and the journal’s content. The editors shall be experts in their respective fields. They shall review research work submitted by authors and provide recommendations on the rejection and acceptance of their paper.

Your responsibility as editor shall be to maintain and develop the journal’s profile. As such, you shall team up with the publishing staff to ensure that the journal’s core objectives, scope, and values are maintained throughout the editorial process. Relevant recommendations shall be provided and based on complementary expertise and information sources.

Responsibilities of an Editor

Ensure that the manuscripts reflect any changes in the field of study to incorporate new information and emerging work.
Promote the journal to peers and colleagues
Carry out your activities per general industry practices for integrity and objectivity.
Provide strategic input into your journal’s development

Choosing Reviewers

Editors shall select appropriate reviewers who meet SustainE’s qualification standards for submissions.
Editors shall desist from using reviewers who consistently produce poor quality or late reviews
Editors shall select at least two reviewers to provide a report and ensure that not all of the selected reviewers are recommended by the authors of the paper unless there is strong justification.
Editors shall employ a wide range of sources when identifying potential new reviewers.

Review Process

Editors shall be prompt in handling papers assigned to them.
Editors shall strive to handle any papers assigned to them regardless of the paper’s subject area.
Editors shall provide relevant feedback to authors regarding the reviewer’s comments.
Editors shall offer justification for any critical deviation from the described peer-review process.
Editors shall monitor and maintain high standards for the peer-review process.
Editors shall encourage peer reviewers to comment on ethical issues and misconduct raised by submissions and the authenticity of the paper.

Decisions

Editors shall be prompt in handling papers assigned to them.
The editor shall recommend rejecting a paper if it does not meet the SustainE journal standards.
Decisions on submissions are not reversible unless in extreme situations.
New editors are not permitted to overturn decisions to publish submissions made by their predecessors unless in extreme situations.
Editors shall flag any case of misconduct or disputed authorship with the editor-in-chief.

Editor-in-chief and Section Editors guidelines

The Editor-in-Chief and the Section Editors shall send the reviewer’s comments to authors.
The Editor-in-Chief and the Section Editors shall respond promptly to complaints.
The Editor-in-Chief and the Section Editors shall seek clarification on any reported forms of misconduct before rejecting the papers.
The Editor-in-Chief and the Section Editors shall ensure a proper investigation for any alleged misconduct.
