ABOUT THE HONOREE
Prof. Felix Akinsola Akinyosoye


Prof. Felix Akinsola Akinyosoye, born on February 16, 1955, in Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, Nigeria, is a distinguished academic and Professor of Microbiology at the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (cum laude) from the University of Arkansas, a Master’s degree in Microbiology from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Ilorin, supported by a Federal Government of Nigeria Postgraduate Scholarship.
With a career spanning decades, Prof. Akinyosoye has supervised over 26 Ph.D. and 48 Master’s students, with many becoming professors globally. He has published over 130 academic papers and won numerous national and international grants and awards. His service includes roles as a governing council member, external examiner, and assessor for various Nigerian universities, as well as a resource professor for the National Universities Commission.
Beyond academia, Prof. Akinyosoye has contributed to community development, including roles in MDG and SDG initiatives in Ondo State. He is a committed member of the Anglican Diocese of Ile-Oluji and a recipient of several honors, including the Ile-Oluji Hall of Fame award. Prof. Akinyosoye is married to Chief (Mrs.) Florence Folayele Akinyosoye, and they are blessed with children and grandchildren.

ABOUT THE EDITORS
Prof Bamidele J. Akinyele


Professor Bamidele Juliet Akinyele holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria, where she is a Professor and Director of the International Strategy Office. Her research focuses on mushroom biotechnology, mycology, and food microbiology, with emphasis on utilizing indigenous wastes for cultivating mushrooms and exploring their anticancer and antimicrobial properties.
She has supervised 20 Ph.D. and 54 Master’s research projects, authored 80 publications, and contributed significantly to curriculum development, knowledge transfer, and community service. Prof. Akinyele has held leadership roles, including Head of the Department of Microbiology, and served as a resource person for accrediting microbiology programs in Nigeria.
An active member of professional organizations such as the Nigerian Society for Microbiology and the International Society for Mushroom Science, she has participated in international training programs on food safety, leadership, and biotechnology. Prof. Akinyele is married to Prof. Benjamin Oluwole Akinyele, and they are blessed with children.
Prof. Kayode Rowland Ojo


Prof. Kayode, Rowland Monday Ojo was born in Aduratedo-Bunu, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. He had his primary education at Oyi Local Government Primary School, Odo-Ape and secondary education at Government Secondary School, Koton-Karfe. He had Ordinary Diploma (Science Laboratory Technology), Higher National Diploma (Microbiology and Virology), both of the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology. He later obtained his B.Sc. (Food Science and Technology) at the Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, Nigeria. Postgraduate Diploma (Food and Industrial Microbiology) and M.Tech. (Food Microbiology), both at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. He bagged a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria.
Prof. Kayode is a recipient of several awards including; Postdoctoral Fellowship Award to the University of Fort Hare, South Africa. British Council Research Fellowship Award to the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Pillars of Nation Building Award by the Strategic Institute for Natural Resources and Human Development, Nigeria.
He was appointment as Assistant Lecturer at the University of Ilorin in 2008, and rose to the position of Professor in 2021. He has served as Acting Head, Department of Home Economics and Food Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ilorin. He was appointed in August, 2023 as the Director, Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) in the same University. He has successfully supervised a number of Ph.D., M.Sc. and many B.Sc. degree projects. Prof. Kayode has served as External Examiners in many Universities in Nigeria and Abroad. He is a registered member of some professional bodies such as; Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technologists. Prof. Kayode has attended several international and local conferences, workshops, seminars and training. He has published over One hundred publications in journals and chapter in books to his credit. He is happily married to Mrs. Kayode, Rebecca Omotayo and blessed with four children.

Adenike A. Akinsemolu, PhD


Adenike Akinsemolu is an Associate Professor (Hon.) at the University of Birmingham, a Senior Research Fellow at Afe Babalola University, a Visiting Professor at Wesley University, and the Director of the Green Institute, Nigeria. She is a leading expert in the field of environmental sustainability with over 10 years of experience in education and research. Adenike is renowned for coining the term “Green Microbiology,” a groundbreaking field that explores the sustainable applications of microbes in environmental and industrial systems. Her contributions have shaped the discourse in this area, with published research and her upcoming book, Green Microbiology (Elsevier, 2025), further solidifying her position as a pioneer.
Adenike is an advisory member of the UNEP World Water Quality Alliance, a UNEP GEO-7 Lead Author, and a member of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. She is committed to finding bold and effective solutions to complex challenges, including the fight against climate change. Her deep passion for promoting sustainable practices and solutions for organizations and communities is matched by her strong track record of success in developing and implementing innovative initiatives.
In addition to her work as an educator and researcher, Adenike is the author of several influential books on sustainability, including Principles of Green and Sustainability Science (Springer, 2020), Green Microbiology (Elsevier, 2025), and An Introduction to Green Education (The Green Institute/National Geographic, 2022). She is always looking for opportunities to collaborate and share her knowledge and expertise with others who are committed to protecting the environment.
